The One

Privacy Policy

Updated October 9, 2026

The One helps you keep one small daily action and quit one thing for good: the website the-one.my and the apps for iPhone and Android. This page explains what data we store, why, and how to delete it.

What we get when you sign in

When you sign in with Google or Apple, the app only receives:

  • your name and profile photo — to show you to your friends and in the leaderboard;
  • your email address — to recognize you the next time you sign in and so friends can find you.

We get no access to your mailbox, contacts, files or any other account data, and we never ask for it. With Sign in with Apple you can hide your real email — then we only see a relay address from Apple, and your name and photo may not be shared.

What you save yourself

  • the names of your habits, emoji and start date;
  • your marks for each day: done or not done;
  • your character's name;
  • your list of friends and friend requests;
  • messages to support sent through “Report a problem” — the text and, if you attach one, a screenshot.

Analytics

To understand how many people use The One and where they drop off, our server records the days on which you opened the app or the website. These records are linked to your account and are not shared with anyone.

The website the-one.my uses Yandex Metrica: it counts page views and steps such as “finished onboarding” or “signed in”. For this, Yandex receives your IP address, browser and device data, and sets its own cookies. We never send your name, email or habit names to Metrica. The iPhone and Android apps don't include Metrica. You can opt out by installing the Metrica opt-out add-on.

Where the data is stored

On our own server, in a database that can't be reached from outside. A backup is made once a day. The connection is protected with HTTPS.

You can try the app without an account: your squares are then kept in a guest record with no name or email, and deleted after 30 days unless you sign in.

Who sees your data

Friends you added yourself see your name, photo and streak. They don't see the names of your habits or your daily marks. We don't sell data, don't show ads, and don't track you across other apps or websites. Apart from Yandex Metrica on the website (see “Analytics”), your data is not shared with anyone.

The website's fonts are loaded from Google Fonts — Google only sees your IP address, just as with any website that uses their fonts.

Cookies

Our own cookies are only a sign-in cookie (without it you would have to log in again on every page) and a cookie that remembers the language you picked. On the website, Yandex Metrica sets its own analytics cookies. There are no advertising cookies.

Deleting your account

Your profile has a “Delete account” button: it immediately and permanently deletes your account and all related data — habits, marks, character name and friends. You can also write to paulopenacademy@gmail.com.

You can revoke the app's access to your Google account at myaccount.google.com/permissions, and to your Apple ID in your iPhone settings: your name → “Sign in with Apple”.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will appear on this page with a new date. See also the terms of use and support.
